Why Join Us?

The museum is staffed entirely by volunteers who give up their time to bring alive the sights and sounds of the past. None of this is possible, however, without the support of you – our visitors, who help greatly by spending a little time at the museum. And if you enjoy your day with us, then please tell others or, even better, become a member.

We welcome members from the age of 14 upwards and our annual subscription rates are very good value. You do not need any technical expertise whatsoever; just a willingness to learn and to see the museum develop. However, our members who are fortunate enough to posses suitable technical skills will find that their talents can be put to good use whatever their field of interest. When we are open to the public, members can learn to conduct and drive our fleet of trams and trolleybuses and to guard or drive on the narrow gauge railway. Or how about manning the admissions kiosk or helping in the museum cafe or shop? Equally, as our museum’s administration becomes ever more technologically developed we are also interested in hearing from people who feel that they may be able to offer more ICT or office-based skills that could be put to good use in developing our artifact and photographic archives. One thing is assured – there is always plenty to do!
